# Affiliate implementation note

The reusable pattern added here is intentionally safe-by-default:

- `assets/data/affiliate-links.json` holds product/link records.
- `assets/js/affiliate-links.js` can replace anchors marked with `data-affiliate-key` when a configured `affiliateUrl` exists.
- If `affiliateUrl` is blank, the ordinary editorial link remains.
- Pages should include a clear disclosure near recommendation links.

Possible affiliate programs to evaluate separately:

- Apple Services Performance Partners / Apple TV links, if available for the region and account.
- Amazon Associates for books/DVDs where allowed.
- Bookshop.org affiliate program for books where available.
- Indigo/Rakuten/Impact-style book affiliate programs for Canada, if available.

Do not imply BC Fires earns a commission until the affiliate account is approved and the link is configured.
